About Me

As a midwife I have been privileged to be part of women’s birthing experiences for over twenty years, 17 of which were as a community midwife, delivering all aspect of normal birth, including home birth.

I was involved in the planning and the opening of the Midwife Led Unit at the Liverpool Women’s Hospital and went on to manage the unit for two and half years before going to the US.

In the US I taught natural childbirth, breast feeding and parenting classes .

I have been working as a Hypnobirthing Practitioner in the Liverpool, Wirral and Cheshire area since 2007.

Apart from my experiences in natural child birth I also have extensive experience in:

  • Breast feeding,
  • Parenting
  • Child health and nutrition
  • Child development

I also designed and co-delivered a fatherhood programme.

In addition to my work in maternal health I was also an associate lecturer at Liverpool University and was involved in the clinical education of medical students, nurses and student midwives.  More recently I have given talks on HB to the LWH midwives and will commence educational session with the midwives at Arrowe Park in 2010.  I will also be involved in delivering talks to student midwives on alternative therapies for birth at Edge Hill University and Chester University in 2010.

I have spoken at conference both here in the UK and in the USA, delivering topics from Midwife Led Care, to Post Partum Depression. I have a Masters Degree in Biomedical Ethics, a BA(Hons) in Health Studies/Health Promotion, Registered Nurse and Registered Midwife Qualifications. Most importantly I have two grown children of my own and two beautiful grandchildren.

Now that I am home for good I am returning to midwifery practice and start eight weeks clinical practice at Arrowe Park with midwifery theory at the University of Central Lancashire in January 2010.

I am a member of the HypnoBirthing Insitute.
